Since late 2017 the Frankston & District Basketball Association (FDBA) has been reviewing its operational capacity in the context of the continued growth of the FDBA’s junior & senior competitions. This growth is reflected in a record number of players taking the court on a weekly basis over the summer 2018/19 season.

Alongside this review, the FDBA has been working with representatives of Frankston City Council on much needed renewal works at Frankston basketball stadium which have formally commenced. The scope of these works includes:

  • Roof repairs on court 5 & 6 and along main foyer area
  • Replacement of rusted wall panels on court 5 & 6
  • The upgrading of the stadium’s main amenities and canteen

These works are designed to bring the stadium to current industry standards while delivered without impacting match scheduling and overall facility usage.

As you would be aware, the association continues to face scheduling challenges across the week in light of increased team registrations and limited court availability. This problem has led the association to undertake a review of its facility planning, which has seen in principle agreements reached with Carrum Downs Secondary College and Monterey Secondary College as future locations for court expansion.

Further news will follow shortly in how you can support the delivery of these much-needed projects which will directly benefit the 1000s of players; coaches; and volunteers connected through our shared passion for the sport of basketball.

To support these much-needed projects and support future facility planning, the FDBA encourages you to complete a short survey which will support the identification of priorities you feel need addressing.

Respondents to this survey will go into the draw to win a complimentary family dinner valued at $200 at your choice of Frankston RSL or Fratelli’s Pizza Pasta Grill.
