REGIONAL ACADEMY TERM 1 2020 REGISTRATION OPEN

Term 1 2020 Regional Academy registrations are now open and we’re excited to once again offer the most comprehensive development program pathway in the Frankston region

Introductory Programs

Our Mini Hoops program for 3, 4 and 5 year olds will once again run 6 days a week (10am week day mornings and 3pm Sunday afternoon).

Mini Hoops will be led by Lauren Skelly who has been with the Mini Hoops program since it first begun and has helped it grow in to one of the most recognisable and fun programs on offer. Our “Mini Hooper’s” will get their first experience with basketball and will work on hand-eye coordination, communication, team work, spatial awareness all in a fun and supported environment.

Our Aussie Hoops program will begin for a 2nd year after a successful return to the program in 2019. This program is perfect for children aged between 5 and 10 who have little to no experience with structure basketball training but are looking to learn the fundamental skills of the game. Abby Chernishoff was nominated for Aussie Hoops Coach of the Year, acknowledging her as one of the best development coaches in the country.

Development Programs

Domestic Academy will once again be offered for players currently playing domestic basketball who are looking for some extra training to challenge their skills and help improve their game. This program is designed for children aged between 8 and 14 years of age and will focus on continuing to develop the fundamental skills of the game as well as working on learning some team offensive and defensive concepts such as man-to-man defensive rules, positioning and floor spacing. Chris Ash will be back to work with our Domestic Academy athletes, Chris was known as a player as one of the most fundamentally sound point guards in SEABL (now NBL1 history) and is great at passing this knowledge on to our players.

NBL1 Star, Lachlan Barker will once again lead the Rep Prep program which is designed for players on the cusp of playing representative basketball (VJBL). The Rep Prep sessions will focus on some of the more advanced individual skills of the game while also building in to some team concepts such as movement off the ball, screening and other team based skills.

Term 1 programs begin the week starting Sunday the 16th of February – to register for these programs please click the corresponding image below.
