Frankston Blues are excited to announce the appointment of Kerryn Mitchell as the new Head Coach of our Youth League Women’s side.

Kerryn steps in to the role with one of the most impressive playing and coaching resumes in the state. Kerryn’s playing career started with the Bayside Blues (now Frankston Blues) where she was a part of the clubs first Victorian Championship winning side and includes multiple State and National Team representative honours. Kerryn went on to play WNBL for 10 years, most notably with the Canberra Capitals where she captained the side for 3 years and was awarded Club MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. Kerryn has also played overseas as an import in the Netherlands and Hungary.

As a coach Kerryn has been heavily involved in the Victorian State High-Performance Pathway as a Head Coach at two Southern Cross Challenges, Assistant Coach at 3 Nationals Campaigns with a return of 2 gold medals with the U20 Girls and 1 bronze medal with the U18 Girls. Kerryn’s coaching resume has also seen her venture overseas as the Head Coach of the Aussie Elite AAU Touring Women’s team and most recently to the NBA Global Academy Next Generation Camp where she was the only Australian coach to receive an invitation.

Kerryn has held multiple positions within the Frankston Blues program and has been the leader of the Junior Girls Program as the Coaching Coordinator for over 5 years. Kerryn has been the driving force behind the recent success of the Junior Girls Program and will now help continue that pathway for our Juniors into the Senior program.

When asked about her new role, Kerryn Mitchell had this to say; “I’m really excited to take up the Youth League Head Coaching role and continue the great work that Byron and Brooke started when the program was resurrected a few years ago. I’m also looking forward to working with our Senior program leaders in Belinda and Jo, I think I can learn a lot from both of them.”

“Many of our Senior and Youth League players’ coach In our junior program so I have the pleasure of working with them as colleagues in that space; it will be great to mentor them as players again as well.”

“We have also got some great young talent coming through our junior Blues program; I look forward to guiding them as they transition from juniors to seniors. I can’t wait to get started! “
