We wish to advise that Kerryn Mitchell has decided to move on from the role of Frankston Blues Girls Coaching Coordinator. Kerryn will continue to coach the Frankston Blues Youth League Women’s team and will continue to coach the Frankston Blues Under 12.3 Girls.
The financial pressure that has been placed on the FDBA throughout the Covid 19 period has been significant and resulted in a reduction in pay rates across many areas of the FDBA. Our Association has not been impervious to the economic pressures and along with many basketball Associations will record a sizeable deficit in 2020
Kerryn advised that she has now weighed up all of her current responsibilities and assessed how her time is allocated. Kerryn is working, has a coaching career, and has a young family, it is an enormous and ever-increasing workload.
Kerryn has achieved an enormous amount in the past 4 years she set out to make the girls program the premier program in the state/country. For the first time ever, we have 10 teams in VC, including the 21’s, plus two teams in VC in U14’s. Along with three U12 teams in VJL1, plus the 14 3’s also in VJL1. These results have us poised to win VC championships in the coming few years; making it clear that Kerryn has accomplished her original goal. A huge part in the achievement of this goal has been putting together the best coaching line-up of any club in Victoria, most likely, Australia.
As Kerryn has said this is the best time for the club to make a change as we are heading into the quiet period in terms of the VJBL. It will give the person that we settle on to assume the role and duties time to get to know all of the coaches and the players in preparation for the allocation/recruitment/retention of coaches/players as well as preparation for tryouts for the 21/22 VJBL season.
Kerryn has done a wonderful job during her tenure and we will continue to watch her develop the Youth League Women into star performers.
