KERRYN MITCHELL RETURNS TO YOUTH LEAGUE HEAD COACH ROLE

The Frankston Blues (FDBA) are pleased to announce the re-signing of Youth League Women’s Head Coach, Kerryn Mitchell.

Kerryn is fast establishing herself as one of the best coaches in the state having recently been appointed the Victorian U20 Women’s Head Coach role as well as having been identified for the Basketball Australia Elite Female Coach Advancement Program.

The Frankston Blues Youth League Women quickly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the Youth League One competition and were poised to challenge for the title before the season was cut short.

Kerryn Mitchell spoke about about returning to the Youth League Women’s Head Coach role.

“This group is a lot of fun to work with, so I’m thankful for the opportunity to continue as the YLW Head Coach. Their hard work and willingness to embrace change led to solid progress in key areas which gives us a platform to build from. There’s no doubt that we have unfinished business though. The league has made it clear that the only way we’re getting to VYCW is by winning YLW1. Challenge accepted.”

The Frankston Blues boast the most impressive, all-female coaching line-up of any Senior Program in the state, led by NBL1 Women’s Head Coach, Belinda Snell and NBL1 Women’s Assistant Coach, Joanne Wood (who will be assisting Kerryn with the Vic U20 Women’s side).

When asked about Kerryn’s impact on the Senior Program in 2021 and the news of her re-signing, Belinda Snell had this to say:

“It’s great news to have Kerryn back leading the Blues Youth League. Kerryn’s dedication and commitment to help further improve the Frankston Girl’s program has been outstanding, I look forward to working with Kerryn and Jo Wood to find the up and coming future talent at Blues!”

Tryouts for our Youth League Women’s side will begin on Sunday 28th of November, for more details and to register please click HERE.
