PETA MURPHY MP ANNOUNCES 15 MILLION DOLLAR COMMITMENT TO REDEVELOPMENT

PETA MURPHY MP ANNOUNCES 15 MILLION DOLLAR COMMITMENT TO REDEVELOPMENT

Last night (17/03/2022) Peta Murphy Federal Labor Member for Dunkley and Jim Chalmers (Shadow Treasurer for Federal Labor) shared a major announcement that “an elected Anthony Albanese / Labor government would invest 15 million dollars in the redevelopment of the Frankston Basketball Stadium (90 Bardia Avenue, Seaford).”

The announcement was shared alongside Frankston City Council Mayor Cr Nathan Conroy, Frankston City Council CEO Phil Cantilon and his team, FDBA Board of Management and Staff, FDBA domestic competitions participants, Frankston Blues representative Junior and Senior players and coaches, VBRA Frankston Referees, and FDBA Association volunteers.

Peta Murphy MP Federal Member for Dunkley spoke about the Association.

“This Association has a long and proud history”

“[The FDBA] has broadened its focus for inclusion and community”

“And one of the reasons I’m incredibly proud to represent all of you in Canberra and to be someone who has forged a pretty good relationship with basketball, in particular all the people here, is that this is an Association, that we can be so proud of, because it is about everyone and for everyone.”

Dr Jim Chalmers (Shadow Treasurer for Labor) shared his basketball background and spoke about facility development

“Outstanding communities like this one, deserve outstanding political representatives, and you have that, but you deserve outstanding facilities to work your magic in”

“What we want to do is support you. We know you are here for the players. We know you have been there to support them through some pretty tough years in particular, and Peta and I want to be there for you.”

“Making a commitment of this size is not a little thing for us, it does take Peta (Murphy) lobbying over and over again, in the best possible way. And we have held it up to the light, and know the Council have done a lot of work and DD (due diligence).”

“And so, a commitment of this size we are very proud to make after we thought about it long and hard, but at the end of the day, it’s in lots of ways a no-brainer because of the opportunities here and because of what you impart of the people that participate on the sport here.”

“I am proud that Peta can deliver this to you, because you really deserve it”
