At the FDBA Board meeting on 27th October 2022, the FDBA Board unanimously voted to extend the contract of FDBA CEO Wayne Holdsworth until March 2027.
FDBA President Tim Bower said that it was the Board’s unanimous view that Wayne has been instrumental in the success of our association which was recently recognized by Basketball Victoria when they awarded the FDBA Association of the Year.
Wayne has provided outstanding leadership during the turbulent COVID period which has seen the FDBA not only recover from COVID closures but achieve record participation numbers with over 1060 teams registered for the current season.
Wayne has also worked tirelessly in the advocacy to every level of Government to secure $45M in funding to redevelop the Frankston Basketball Stadium.
The FDBA Board of Management believed that it was vitally important to have Wayne involved in the redevelopment to ensure the project accommodates our Association and community requirements.
CEO Wayne Holdsworth said he was honoured and privileged to lead the Association into its next phase, particularly managing the enormous growth in domestic basketball participation and ensuring that the values of the Association are upheld.
He was also extremely driven by the opportunity to continue to drive Diversity, Equality and Inclusion which the Association was formally recognized recently by the Victorian Disability awards committee.
Our vision is to continue to facilitate the playing of basketball for the benefit of all participants including but not limited to Aussie and Mini Hoops, Domestic Basketball, All Abilities, Walking Basketball, Disengaged Youth, and Representative basketball.
