A much anticipated Men’s Championship game between 1/2 Price Ribs, Wings & Pints and The Flow was the centrepiece of the night. NBL1 Frankston Blues star Josh Cleary dominated the contest with 32 points and NBL1 Men’s assistant coach Adam Jackson played an important role in the win.

With only one loss for the season, Langwarrin Wildcats TB went along their merry way again with a 24-point victory against the South End Spirit Jaguars in the D2 division. The Flinders Basketball Braves were scorched by FHS Fire’s Ben Vandermeer who put up 21 points in his teams one-point cliff-hanger. The Flinders Phoenix outshone the Flinders Heat in their rivalrous battle on court 1 for the A Grade title. Mt Eliza Meteors Levy and Rowellyn Rockets Rovers pulled off upsets in their respective Elimination finals last week, setting up a huge 3rd vs 4th grand final – with Rowellyn emerging victorious on Wednesday. The evenly matched Bobcats Commerford and Bayside Raiders Wells went blow-for-blow in what resulted in a four-point win for the Bobcats. High-school adversaries FHS Destroyers and FHS Raptors fought for the D1 Championship on court 4, with the Destroyers gaining the upper-hand in a 5-point win.

Two Wednesday Women’s juggernauts of the competition went head-to-head on court one. With the Jets and MVP Marita Boomsma proving too tall a task for the Gasbaggers to overcome in a two-point nail biter. Wild Maniacs Having Shots is a one of a kind team name, and they lived up to it with a one of a kind performance, beating the Panthers by seven-points on court two. Stalwarts of the FDBA competition Mumma Bulls claimed grand final glory in the Women’s D Grade division against Butter Fingers. Kobe Kwan Kanobi knocked off top-of-the-table Grizzles in impressive fashion for the Mixed A Grade championship. Thursday:

Skye Sonics Vella hosted Flinders U18 Magic to kick off the FDBA’s Thursday competition. Flinders were the only team to beat Skye this season, and repeated this effort again in the big dance. PBBC Viper’s blistering unbeaten season came to an unfortunate halt in the grand final, with the Langwarrin Wildcats Blazers earning a proud win. The Woodleigh Waves put up a fight against Bobcats Browne but couldn’t get it done in the U18 C Grade final. Coastal Royals Emerald put together a well-rounded team performance to claim victory over the FHS U18 Storm. The FHS U21 Perminators and the Woodlands Warriors Sweats never let up on the offensive end, nearly eclipsing 70 points each. Zade Nugent’s 32 points somehow wasn’t enough for FHS as Woodlands became the U21 A Grade victors. St Anne’s Avengers won the U21 B Grade title in exemplary fashion, toppling a strong FHS Blazers team.

The Goonies just fell short on what would have been a miraculous A Grade Men’s win, but couldn’t overcome Jordan Melrose and Sam Dewhirst who combined for 39 for Ed Sheehan. The Duntons rallied back all the way from fourth place on the ladder to become B Grade winners, with defence at the forefront of their victory against the Grizzlies. Bayside Sonics showed why they finished atop of their division in C1, knocking back Beers After by 12 points. DC’s executed a perfect game plan to defeat the 17-win/2-loss Globex Corp. team to become the C2 grand final winners in a one-point thriller. Lizzie’s in a Box only won seven regular season games and snuck into fourth place, but that didn’t stop them from conquering the Birdbath Boys in overtime. Alex Dimic has been nothing short of remarkable for Lizzies in a Box, scoring 92-points over the three-game finals series, easily the FDBA’s best finals performer this season. The undermanned Codgers couldn’t get close to Reeceys Revenge in a one-sided affair. MIB and JamSquad went toe-to-toe on court 6. JamSquad could not evoke an upset against the offensively gifted Men In Black, falling short by a point.
