There have been recent changes to public health advice from the state government regarding the management of positive COVID cases and contacts.
It is our understanding that all contacts of a positive case during basketball activities are to be considered ‘Social contacts’ as defined on the government website:

FDBA protocol for positive case management is as follows:
- Member to follow the checklist for COVID cases
- Member to notify FDBA of attendance at any of our facilities during their infectious period
- When the positive case is a child under the age of 18 their parent/guardian should notify their club committee who will then contact FDBA
- All members who shared an ‘indoor space’ concurrently with the positive case will be notified they are considered social contacts
- Social contacts are strongly recommended to follow the checklist for social contacts:
- Step 1: Get tested and isolate until negative
- Step 2: Monitor for symptoms
- Step 3: Stay alert for any advice from the Department of Health
Any clubs that become aware of a positive case attendance during organised training should notify all social contacts and the operator of the facility.
The infectious period is classified as 2 days before symptoms were noticed or notification of a positive test (whichever is earlier).
And indoor space is considered a partially or fully enclosed court area as defined in the Open Premises Directions.
Any team that is required to forfeit a match will not be penalised.
