The Illawarra Hawks have rounded out their #NBL20 roster with David Andersen set to return to the club.
The four-time Olympian and former NBA player had a strong 2018/19 season as one of the clubs most consistent players, averaging 8.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
After spending the off-season playing with SIG Strasbourg in the French Pro A League, Andersen is pumped to return to the Hawks stating: “I think Hawks have done a great job bringing a core group back to carry over from last year whilst adding lots of exciting pieces to the puzzle. Speaking with Coach Flinn, I know he is just as excited about it as I am. It’s great to be back on board with the Hawks and I’m excited to help lead the team this year.”
Andersen will also be reuniting with former NBA teammate Aaron Brooks: “I played with Aaron back with the Houston Rockets, his range and ability to score from anywhere will make him a real danger in the NBL.”
Matt Flinn’s full roster is now completed in his first year as Hawks Head Coach and he believes the talented future NBL stars will thrive off playing with some of the games most talented players.
“Dave is arguably the most tenured player in Australian Basketball history and he’s won championships all over the world. The experience and leadership he will bring to this group will be invaluable.”
The Illawarra Hawks full line up for the 2019/20 season now includes championship winner David Andersen as well as Boomers sharp-shooter Todd Blanchfield, NBA star Aaron Brooks, elite centre Josh Boone, Hawks veterans Tim Coenraad and AJ Ogilvy, young Boomers’ stars Daniel Grida and Emmett Naar, local rising star Angus Glover and young guns Sunday Dech, Sam Froling and LaMelo Ball.
