Congratulations to Frankston Blues’ players Zoe Harvey and Chantelle James for their selection to the Under 18 Victoria Metro Girls team and Under 18 Victoria Country Girls team respectfully, as emergency players.
This is an especially great achievement, as both players are bottom age this year.
Both girls (if required) will head to Wyndham’s Eagle Stadium from 10-17 April for the Australian Under-18 Junior Championships.
Both currently play in our Under 18.1 Girls who recently qualified for Victorian Championship in the VJBL.
Head Coach Renay Bresnan spoke about her excitement to coach Zoe in her first year of Under 18s.
“It’s not that common to come across a player who shows the level of effort and work ethic that Zoe does.”
“Not only is she driven to improve and succeed individually, but she is an excellent teammate, showing leadership capability beyond her years and setting a good example for younger age groups.”
“It will be exciting to see Zoe progress through her Vic Metro U18 Women’s journey and into senior basketball and this achievement is only going to help her along in that journey. Great job Zoe!”
Bresnan then continued to talk about Chantelle as an exciting prospect.
“Chantelle has remained dedicated to her progress as a player, despite coming off a significant knee injury that has required patience through heavy rehab.”
“Chantelle has good knowledge of the game and her experience is evident.”
“To be selected as an emergency in the Vic Country U18 Women is a great achievement and will hold her in good stead going forward as she continues her development towards playing senior basketball.”
“Chantelle will be a great asset to our Frankston program this year, and for years to come. Well done Chantelle!”
