LAVEY READY TO TAKE ON CLUBS OF THE PAST

This Friday night our Frankston Blues NBL1 team will take on Bendigo Braves away, followed by the club’s home annual clash with local rival Dandenong Rangers on ANZAC Day Eve (Saturday night).

Both clubs are former SEABL/NBL1 homes to the Blues’ new Australian Opal recruit Tessa Lavey.

Lavey spent the 2019 NBL1 season with the Bendigo Braves.

“I’m really excited to play against two former clubs, Bendigo in particular, because I’ll be able to see some family and friends and see all the fans again.”

“I’ve called it home for a long time, so they really looked after me.”

“We got to connect a lot with the community as well so it was nice to give back.”

Prior to her time with the Braves, Lavey was a (Dandenong) Ranger.

“I believe I have played in the ANZAC Day game before and I cannot wait to be on the home team this time, the Blues fans are something else and I’m loving it here.”

Last weekend the Blues Women defeated the Nunawading Spectres by 12 points (90-78)

In front of an amazing home crowd, Lavey made an impressive first impression with 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 9 assists.

Her high achievement was joined by fellow Australian Opal Darcee Garbin (30 points, 6/8 three-point attempts)

“Darcee and I have always wanted to work together but it never came to light, so for it to finally be happening and working, we are stoked.”

“Darcee is a great person and athlete so I’m looking forward to what we can achieve with this group.”

In conjunction with the Frankston Blues’ partner, the Frankston RSL, the club will continue its annual traditional games with local rival Dandenong Rangers.

“The Blues family should be really excited for Saturday night.”

“ANZAC Day is always special and means that little bit more to everyone.”

“So we as a group will be playing hard and getting after the win.”

“Shall be very entertaining”

In Round 2, the Frankston Blues will play away Friday night against the Bendigo Braves, then return home this Saturday night, as we take on the Dandenong Rangers on ANZAC Day Eve (April 24th). Tickets can be purchased HERE
