Frankston Blues (FDBA) are thrilled to be able to announce our coaches for the Junior Girls Program for the upcoming 2021/22 VJBL Season.

Our Under 12.1s will be led by Blues Youth League Women’s coach, and recently announced Vic Metro Women’s U20 coach Kerryn Mitchell. Kerryn was also one of only 18 coaches nationally to be included in the 2021 Basketball Australia Elite Female Coach Advancement Program (EFCAP). We are beyond excited to have someone of Kerryn’s experience and calibre leading the 12s. A former Blues junior herself, Kerryn has also represented the state as a player and coach, played WNBL and internationally, and is performance qualified.

Joining Kerryn as coaches across the 12 girls’ program are Cristy McClusky (WNBL/ SEABL/Vic State) and a host of talented current Blues players including; Ella Batish (WNBL/NBL1/Big V), Abby Chernishoff (NBL1), Tegan Fiamengo (Big V), Annabel Fitter (NJCAA/Big V), Tori Jackson (NBL1/Big V), Alex Mason, Zoe Schonfelder (NBL1/Big V) and Courtney Wilkins (NCAA/NBL1),

This is an incredible group of role models to lead and inspire our youngest athletes.

Our Under 14.1s will be led by former Blues Junior VC Championship-winning player and recently announced Blues Junior Girls Coaching Co-Ordinator Beck Lanting. Beck will be assisted by another former Blues junior, Eliza West. Eliza (NCAA, NBL1) returns after a season with Knox in NBL1 and having recently been drafted to play AFLW with Melbourne.

Joining Beck as coaches across the 14 girls’ program is a strong group of experienced and talented coaches including Darren Paxton, Lauren Tuplin (current Blues NBL1/Big V) and former Blues Juniors Meredith McFarlane, Maisie McFarlane, Keely Paxton, and Tyson Carr (Big V).

Our Under 16.1s will be led by former Opal and Olympic Silver medallist, WNBL player, and coach of the Under 14.1 Blues girls team in 2021 that qualified for Australian Club Championships, Nat Porter. Nat is excited to continue working with a super talented group. Nat will be assisted by former Blues Junior and SEABL Championship Winning player Zoe Brothwell.

Joining Nat and Zoe in the under 16s program are former Melbourne Tigers Championship winning NBL, SEABL player Nick Tenner and Renae Saunders who represented Vic Country.

Our Under 18.1s girls will welcome back Adam Kerr to the girls’ program, after two seasons coaching Under 18.1 boys (VC during 2021). Adam last coached the age group, at the Australian Club Championships in 2018, and we are thrilled to welcome him back. Adam will be assisted by Kerryn Mitchell.

The Under 18s program will be supported by former Blues Junior and SEABL, CBA player Narelle Davis and the well respected and long-serving Blues coach Richard Rault.

“We’ve had an incredibly challenging two years with stop-starts and cancelled seasons. We are all excited to get back into training and on the court soon. The talent and experience in our coaching group positions us to be in great shape to keep developing our junior players. We’ve got a passionate group who are committed to both the game, and to supporting our athletes as they return from the extended breaks”.
