The Coles Express NBL1 last week unveiled the NBL1 South fixture for the 2022 Season. (2022 Fixture)

Frankston Basketball Stadium will play host to 11 regular season doubleheader events and are the only club to host an NBL1 Wildcats doubleheader in the South league (NBL1 Announcement).

FDBA Chief Executive Officer Wayne spoke about the upcoming season.

“The NBL1, now NBL1 South brand continues to grow, and we welcome newcomers, the Casey Cavaliers and Keilor Thunder”

“This year, it is our Association’s desire to provide a true and genuine inclusive environment. Half of our regular-season home games will see the ‘Frankston RSL’ Men play before the ‘Powerade’ Women”

“We want our home games to be bigger and better and be a real night out, and the only way that happens is if the ‘Impact’ Junior Blues families get down to games and support their senior teams”

The Frankston Blues will host all four theme rounds this year.

The season will open with the annual ANZAC Day clash against the Dandenong Rangers (Friday 22nd April), including a service by Men’s Naming Rights partners, the Frankston RSL.

Round 3 includes the annual Pink Round (Sunday 8th Mary) against the Sandringham Sabes, as the club helps raise funds for Breast Cancer research in the conjunction with league partners.

Following the huge success in 2021, Basketball Victoria’s Mental Health Round is back (Saturday 18th June) as we take North West Tasmania Thunder and Launceston Tornadoes.

And in Round 11, the club and league will acknowledge the Frist First Nations people (Sunday 10th July) when we player against the Hobart Chargers.

NBL1 General Manager Dean Anglin said the exciting set of 2022 fixtures was a testament to the hard work of our state partners behind the scenes.

“We have 1464 regular-season scheduled games, a huge testament to everyone involved in the NBL1,” Anglin said.

“With COVID-19 interruptions hampering the last two seasons, all conferences are excited for what this year holds.

“We have 74 clubs and 142 teams playing in every state and territory of Australia, which will mean more than 1600 athletes will all be vying for a spot in the inaugural NBL1 National Finals at the end of the year. It’s going to be huge.

“We look forward to bringing fans closer to the game with our partnership with Kayo Freebies for Game of the Week in each conference, through the NBL1 website and the launch of a new NBL1 App prior to the season.

“We’ll give fans a chance to cheer on their team and an opportunity for local stars to shine on one of Australian basketball’s biggest stages.”
