FDBA RUNNER UP IN VICTORIAN DISABILITY AWARDS

At the Victorian Disability Awards ceremony held yesterday, the Frankston and District Basketball Association was announced as the top 4 in Victoria for its success in creating Inclusive communities.

The Victorian Disability Awards are designed to recognize an organization’s efforts to support the community.

The FDBA has been recognized specifically for their inclusion strategy through the All Abilities and Walking basketball programs.

FDBA CEO Wayne Holdsworth said “ his award is special. It recognizes the FDBA’s work in areas that directly assist all of the community. Our strategy in the past 3 years has been to build and grow programs that include everyone in the community and provide an opportunity for everyone to enjoy participating in basketball. Our All Abilities program has increased in participants and age groups and our Walking Basketball has grown in numbers with 80% of participants being female.”

Wayne added  “The credit for the success of these programs is due to the hard work and diligence of FDBA’s Programs Officer Tanya Thomas. Tanya has worked tirelessly to establish and grow our programs and the Association is enormously proud of her and her work, thank you Tanya.”
