We are proud to announce our ‘Impact Realty’ Frankston Blues girls’ coaching lineup for the upcoming 2022/23 VJBL Season.
Our Under 12.1s will be led by former WNBL, SEABL and Vic State representative Cristy McClusky. Cristy will be supported by former Blues junior Braithyn Kerr, who supported Cristy in 2022 during their undefeated season.
Joining Cristy and Braithyn in the 12s program will be current Blues players Ella Batish (WNBL/NBL1/Big V), Alice Yates (Big V) and Alex Mason (Big V).
Our youngest athletes in our 2014-born (double bottom aged) squad will be led by Jo Wood. Jo played over 100 WNBL games, represented Australia as a Junior, coached back-to-back Youth League Women’s Championship Premiers, a Victorian Championship (VC) winning coach in U12 girls, and silver in U14s, was the 2022 Assistant Coach to Frankston Blues NBL1 Women, Assistant Coach to the Gold medal winning u20 Victorian Metro girls side, and a former Frankston Blues SEABL player.
Joining Jo to coach the second of our 2014-born teams is her former Frankston Blues SEABL teammate and former Blues junior Nikki Holmes. Nikki returns to the Blues having spent time coaching junior girls football at the elite level.
This is an incredible group of role models to lead and inspire our youngest athletes.
Our Under 14.1s will be led by former Blues junior and Frankston Blues NBL1 Player Abby Chernishoff and supported by another former Blues junior and Big V player Tegan Fiamengo. Both have been actively involved in the Junior girls program for many years and we are excited to see them leading the 14s program.
Joining Abby and Tegan as coaches across the 14 girls’ program is a strong group of experienced and talented coaches including former Blues juniors Meredith McFarlane and Keely Paxton, current NBL1 player Courtney Wilkins (NCAA/NBL1), Darren Paxton, Brooke Ary and Wayne Foster Johnson.
Our Under 16.1s will be led by former Opal and Olympic Silver medallist, WNBL player and coach of the 14.1 Blues girls team in 2021 that qualified for Australian Club Champs, Nat Porter. Nat is excited to continue working with a super-talented group.
Continuing in the 16s program will be Oliver Green, who’s 2022 team qualified for finals, and former Blues players and Eliza West, Beck Lanting, Tyson Carr and Lauren Tuplin.
Our 18.1s coach will be announced to coincide with the announcement of coaches for the Frankston Blues Senior Women’s Program. The 18.2s will be led by former Melbourne Tigers Championship winning NBL, SEABL player Nick Tenner.
Head of Coaching – Junior Girls, Beck Lanting spoke about the girl’s coaching lineup.
“We have a great collaborative and winning culture across our girls program, led by passionate and dedicated coaches.”
“We had 11 out of 18 girls teams qualify for finals in 2022, and all 4 Victorian Championship teams play at the National Junior Classic and all 4 are currently deep into finals. It is a program that is getting stronger every year and has direct relationships and clear pathways through to our Senior Women’s programs.”
“I am excited for another big year in 2023. Bring it on.”
