With the upcoming 2023/24 VJBL Season just around the corner, the Frankston Blues (FDBA) are thrilled to unveil the coaching line-up for their Under 12 and Under 14 Boys’ teams.
Under 12 Boys’ Coaching Line-Up
A familiar face in the Frankston Blues community, NBL1 guard/forward Tom Garrett, is all set to guide the 12.1 Boys’ team. Having been a part of the Frankston Blues as a junior player himself, this will mark Tom’s third year coaching the 2013-born boys. His firsthand experience in high-level basketball is sure to inspire and mentor the young talents under his wing. Assisting him in this journey will be Nick Fulton. Returning for his second year with the 2014 boys, Tim Wells will be at the helm of the 12.3 Boys’ team. Tim’s coaching prowess has already left a positive impact, and his dedication to nurturing young talents promises another exciting season of growth and development.
A fresh addition to the coaching roster, Dave Hannigan steps up as the head coach for the ‘Future Blues’. With experience as an assistant coach for both the Under 12.1 Boys in the 2021/22 season and the Under 16.3 Boys in the 2022/23 season, Dave’s commitment and enthusiasm make him the perfect fit to lead the 2015-born boys in their early basketball journey.
These exceptional coaches will be supported by a strong team of coaches including Cam Heyes, Dan Vriesen, Bryce Philippe, and Vincent Monaghan.
Under 14 Boys’ Coaching Line-Up
Heading into his second year with the 2011-born Boys, Daniel Spangler is set to lead the 14.1 Boys’ team (2011-borns). Continuing the legacy of success from the past seasons, Luke D’Alcorn will take charge of the 14.3 Boys’ team comprising the 2012-born boys. With their experience and dedication, Daniel and Luke are poised to create a dynamic and enriching season for their players.
The coaching roster is further strengthened by the involvement of Steve Lincoln, Stephen Denton, Shaun Stewart, and Emma Wallace, who will contribute their expertise and passion to the teams’ journey.
The Frankston Blues Under 12 and Under 14 Boys’ teams are in capable hands, ready to embark on an exciting season of growth, skill-building, and basketball excellence. The club eagerly looks forward to witnessing the progress and success of these young athletes under the guidance of these exceptional coaches.

- Frankston Blues New Player Try Outs: For players that have never played VJBL basketball. (Boys – 29th August, Girls – 27th September)
- Frankston Blues Returning & Transferring Player Try Outs: For players that have either played for Frankston Blues or another VJBL club.
- Basketball Victoria Permission to Train Form: Players who are currently playing for or have previously played in a VJBL competition and wish to obtain ‘Permission to train’ (PTT) at another association must complete and submit the correct form before trying out with a new association.
