TONY JACKSON RE-SIGNS FOR TWO YEARS

Frankston Blues (FDBA) are pleased to announce that Tony Jackson has re-signed with the club for the next two Big V Victorian Youth Championship seasons.

Tony Jackson joined the Frankston Blues senior women’s program in earlier this year.

With the team entering the Victorian Youth Championship competition for the first time in many years in 2023, the team finished fifth in the Watson pool.

Assisting Tony will be 2022/23 Frankston Blues U14.1 coach April Whinston. Following a successful VJBL season, with her team finishing sixth at the National Junior Classic and sixth in the VC Finals, April also brings her experience in senior basketball from her recent role with the Mornington Breakers.

Also assisting Tony, and returning to the Youth Women will be 2019 Championship coach Byron Carpenter. Byron was instrumental in the return of Frankston’s youth program and his appointment only fitting to assist in the club’s goal in another Youth championship.

Manager – Frankston Blues Daniel Spangler spoke about the re-appointment.

“Tony joined the club earlier this year, with the difficult challenge in front him, with the team being elevated into championship division.”

“He has a deep understanding of the youth basketball landscape and he understands the direction the senior Women’s program is going”

“His positive influence on the playing group, club and the association has been second to none”
