A message from FDBA CEO Wayne Holdsworth (26/10/2023)
“On the early morning of Tuesday, the 24th of October my beautiful, caring and loving 17-year-old son Mac took his life at home.
Thank you to the many hundreds possibly more that have already reached out and to my family, friends and the FDBA family led by Tim Bower.
This message is not about my sadness. It’s about not only asking the question ‘Are you ok?’ to our young folk. We must ask follow-up questions like ‘Are you happy?’ that may trigger some sign that we can direct them to Headspace or the like.
I can either let this break me or inspire me to educate others, and we may save one life. My choice is to never ever give in.
Mac’s funeral is on Thursday 2nd November at 3:00 pm sharp at Connect Christian Church 135 Golf Links Road Frankston.
I want a full house.”
FDBA President Tim Bower offered the following message.
“We are devastated and heartbroken in the loss of Mac. The Frankston basketball family offer our condolences and unconditional support to the Holdsworth family.”
