This will be the last grand finals played on the old, worn out Frankston Basketball hardwood for another 2-3 years.
With the imminent rebuild set to begin mid-year, our next grand finals will be played at another venue, and will continue to do so until the redevelopment is complete.
If you had the chance to play a Grand Final during this week, you are one of the lucky ones – it could be another 1,000 days until the next person plays a grand final here again!

The Winter Season has come to a close after Saturday’s huge Junior Domestic Grand Final and U8’s Participation Day.
Saturday was a great success – As per previous seasons, the Under 8s participation matches based on ladder position (1st v. 2nd, 3rd v. 4th etc.)
The day kicked off in style with the Under 8’s, delivering exciting, close games and big smiles all around.
Next up, the Under 10’s, 12’s, and 14’s hit the courts, with MVP awards handed out to the standout players in each game.
Saturday saw an incredible 124 games played, with a total of 5343 points scored and 1805 players taking part.
There was no shortage of excitement, with 66% of games being decided by single digits. The top-scoring teams of the day were the Mt Eliza Meteors U12 Boys Wilson, putting up an impressive 63 points.
The Mt. Eliza Meteors emerged as the most successful club, clinching a whopping 13 grand final victories, followed by Woodlands Warriors, securing five.
Individual standout performances included:
- U10 Boys: Louis Haley spearheaded his team with 21 points for St John’s Yellow, a season high output, in also his third 20+ point game this season.
- U10 Girls: Not only did she win Grand Finals at Western Port and Chelsea during the week. Elina Emetlis capped off a winning week with 15 points in a win for Flinders Starlets.
- U12 Boys: Tinashe Bimha posted a staggering statline which included 40 points – the most ever recorded during Saturday Grand Finals.
- U12 Girls: Racking up 25 points in her fourth appearance in this article in as many seasons; Zara Guthrie was unstoppable. Lara Pino also had a day to remember with 24 points and taking home the MVP Medal.
- U14 Boys: Kaiden Tangimetua poured in a season-high 20 points but his team fell just short. Jasper Muir also impressed with 18-points in a victory for Kingston Comets Lightning.
- U14 Girls: The scoring machine that is Jarlie Faucett produced a 28-point performance, however it was not enough to win, as the second highest scorer on the day was on the opposition – Katie Pino (sister of Lara Pino from above) knocked in 17 points.
