Waverley have opened up their season with an impressive 74-62 win over the Blues in Frankston.

Carley Mijovic lead the Falcons with 21 points, five triples and nine rebounds, while Kelly Bowen (10 points, 14 rebounds) added a double-double. Frankston’s Stephanie Reid led all scorers with 22 points, but got little support from her teammates on the night.

The Falcons continued to pile on the pain in the third quarter, pushing their advantage out to 46-28 with 7:17 left off Mijovic’s triple. The Blues showed some fight down the stretch of the third to bring it back to a 13-point deficit at the end of the period.

Frankston continued their run in the fourth, opening the quarter on a 6-0 run to cut Waverley’s lead back to just six. But the Falcons would not be denied, stretching the margin back out to double digits to close out the road win.
