FDBA RETURN TO SPORT UPDATE – SENIOR DOMESTIC

FDBA RETURN TO SPORT UPDATE – SENIOR DOMESTIC

Dear Members,

Exciting news from the state government on Sunday with senior basketball permitted to resume soon.

FDBA will be opening registrations for senior domestic competitions later this week with a planned return date of 23 November.

FDBA staff will be contacting each team that registered for the Winter 2020 season over the coming days to confirm your transfer to the new season or refund if unable to participate.

Please find the updated information below.

Indoor sport has important changes forecast for 23 November – a patron cap of up to 100 people with group or class size up to 20 people

The major hurdle still facing basketball is definitions around what constitutes indoor ‘Facilities / Zones / Spaces’.

We expect Basketball Victoria to provide confirmation this week that 20 people will be permitted per court for basketball activities.

This would see Orange-20 apply from their current guidelines which are under review:

Summer 2020/21 Season

Please find DRAFT calendar and registration closing dates for domestic competitions below;

We will provide confirmation on season start dates as soon as we can.

We understand that 2 weeks is a very short period of time to organise teams for a return to competitions, especially with a season changeover and new database (PlayHQ) to navigate.

However, we are also committed to ensuring that teams that are ready to resume may be provided an opportunity to do so.

It is our plan to offer a flexible registration period until the first round of the regular season next year.

Grading fixtures will be completed on a weekly basis until the Christmas break and teams that are registered before each weeks closing date will be included in that round of competition.

Grading changes will occur weekly instead of every 2 rounds for all senior competitions this season.

Please refer to FDBA Domestic Competition Grading Policy if you have any questions on this process.

Teams that register/resume after each cut-off date will not receive compensation – eg a team that commences in round 3 will not receive any premiership points for rounds 1 & 2.

Fees/Registration

S20/21 match fees:

  • Senior: $65.00

Registration fees are under review pending confirmation of the season structure.

The registration portal will open later this week.

Teams that have already paid registration fees will receive credit towards match fees – thank you for your support.
