Ladies and Gentlemen, Girls and Boys, Basketball at Frankston is well and truly back !!
Last week, with the easing of restrictions, the first game back of domestic basketball in metropolitan Melbourne occurred on Monday Morning Women tipping on court 1, followed by a week of our regular Senior and Junior mid-week competitions.
Saturday saw the commencement of Junior Domestic competitions and we would like to thank all the facility partners for their trust in our processes and procedures. It was so great to hear balls bouncing in the hallways and children smiling. Generally, spectator behaviour has been COVID compliant and understanding, but I would remind those not complying that it will not be tolerated, and will be dealt with swiftly. What everyone needs to remember is that the restrictions and protocols we are facilitating basketball under are Government restrictions.
This Saturday we also took some time to recognize FDBA Life Member Arthur Stone’s forty plus years of commitment to basketball, at both the FDBA and neighbouring Associations. In attendance were Federal Member for Dunkley Peta Murphy, FDBA President Tim Bower, VBRA Frankston Branch President Gaile Reid, FDBA Referee Advisor Chris Morrey and numerous VBRA Frankston Branch members including those that had refereed with him over his outstanding term.
Last Friday our we began the new season processes of Junior Blues Tryouts. Thank you to everyone that has provided support to Kerryn and Scott and I wish all of the participants the best.
And lastly, the 3X3 Street Hustle Peninsula Tour positive feedback has been overwhelming and we are extremely proud of the final product. Congratulations to all tour winners, but more importantly we hope everyone simply had some fun returning to the courts.
As always I thank everyone between the ages of 4 and 84 that play or participate in basketball at the FDBA.
