DOMESTIC COMPETITIONS UPDATE (03/09/2021)

Dear members,

We hope you are all keeping well during these challenging times.

FDBA is fully committed to reactivating as quickly as possible when restrictions permit.

Resumption dates for community sport remain uncertain; however, recent announcements provided by the State Government have allowed us to make some decisions regarding the Winter 2021 and Summer 2021/22 seasons.

Please find information below for each season:

Winter 2021

Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the Winter 2021 season.

No finals or presentations will occur, for both Senior and Junior Compeittions.

It was our intent to play finals in September but the extended lockdown has removed all available weeks remaining in the schedule to accommodate the return to the season.

Senior teams that are currently placed first and second in their division ladders will be declared premiers and runners up respectively.

Junior teams have been particularly impacted by the three periods of lockdown this season.

The impact is considered too significant to declare division champions for our junior competitions with all divisions unable to complete a full rotation of the fixture.

Congratulations to all teams on your contribution this season.

Any teams that have prepaid match fees to FDBA will be contacted directly regarding refund/roll over options.

Summer 2021/22

We understand that many players and families are reluctant to commit to the upcoming season given the current level of uncertainty.

The season calendar is under review and we can now reasonably anticipate modifications will be required.

We recommend that clubs pause registrations and seek expressions of interest from players until they are able to finalise their fees in accordance with the season calendar.

The senior team registration portal remains open and we thank teams that have already committed to the upcoming season.

We intend to offer a flexible registration period over the first 4 weeks of the season similar to the previous Summer 2020/21 season.

Teams will be able to commence from round 1 or later depending on their circumstances.

There will be a designated weekly closing date for each day of competition with registered teams added to the next round of the fixture.

Further details to follow.

On behalf of FDBA I’d like to thank all of you for your ongoing support and we hope to welcome you back soon.

Regards,

Dion Paull – Operations Manager
