SITAYA FAGAN & SAPPHIRES WIN FIBA U16 ASIA CHAMPIONSHIP

The Australian Sapphires emerged victorious at the FIBA U16 Women’s Asian Championship 2023. Among the remarkable players who contributed to their success was Frankston Blues’ junior Sitaya Fagan.

Throughout the tournament, Sitaya demonstrated her exceptional skill, averaging 7.4 points, 2.2 steals, and 4 rebounds per game.

The Australian Sapphires dominated the competition from start to finish, showcasing their prowess in a series of awe-inspiring performances. Remaining undefeated, they conquered opponents including Thailand (125-20), Korea (71-53), Syria (102-43), and Chinese Taipei (103-51) during the pool games. In the Semi-Final, they triumphed over New Zealand with a scoreline of 99-62, setting the stage for a thrilling Final showdown against Japan, which they ultimately won 80-74.

As the Australian Sapphires return home, they will be greeted with well-deserved adulation and celebration for their exceptional achievement at the FIBA U16 Women’s Asian Championship 2023.
