Frankston Basketball (FDBA) is honoured to be recognised again for its dedication to fostering an inclusive community through basketball, earning the title of Inclusive Basketball Association of the Year for 2024 at Basketball Victoria’s annual awards night.
This achievement highlights the FDBA’s commitment to creating programs and initiatives that ensure basketball is a sport for everyone—regardless of age, ability, or background.
FDBA CEO Wayne Holdsworth reflected on the prestigious accolade, stating:

2024 Highlights:
This year, Frankston Basketball has built on its inclusive legacy through numerous groundbreaking initiatives, including:
- Victorian Disability Sport & Recreation Award: Winning the Sport Initiative of the Year for its Blind and Low Vision Basketball program.
- Walking Basketball Tournament: Hosting its first-ever tournament with competitive and social divisions, welcoming teams from across Victoria.
- Language Rebrand: Transitioning from the term All Abilities to inclusive phrasing that celebrates individuals for who they are and focusing on what they can do rather than what they can not.
- Vision Impaired Basketball Expansion: Organizing a Come & Try Day and showcasing the Bell Ball program on Channel 7’s House of Wellness.
- Milestone Celebrations: Marking five years of Inclusion Skills Sessions and the second year of the weekly Wheelchair Basketball program.
Beyond these headline programs, Frankston Basketball continues to engage the community through weekly Walking Basketball matches, tailored holiday camps, and initiatives like the Grandkids & Kids Walking Basketball Family Day.
