The Frankston 3X3 Street Hustle took over the courts on Monday, providing a thrilling, high-energy day of basketball that kept parents, siblings and friends on the edge of their seats.
With 197 games played, a staggering 3,282 points were scored throughout the day – 46 more points than the last event, despite 20 less games on the slate.
The competition was fast-paced and intense, with teams playing 4-5 games in a short two-hour window. This rapid-fire format kept the energy levels high and ensured that no team could afford to let up for a second.
A total of 80 teams, featuring 270 players across a wide range of age groups, registered for the event. From U10s to U16s, players from all corners of the Mornington Peninsula provided standout performances in the parching conditions.
One of the key elements of the event was the continued use of both representative and domestic divisions, which ensured a balanced and competitive playing field. This structure made for closer matchups and heightened excitement.
Music playing on the showcourt throughout the day added an extra layer of energy to the games. The showcourt was also host to all 10 grand finals, which created some memorable highlights.
Thank you to the players, parents, and referees who contributed to making this event a resounding success. Your support ensured the day ran smoothly and made the event a memorable experience for everybody involved.

Wildcat Warriors set the standard of play to start the day. Emerging from Pool A with a 100% winning record and raising the bat with 50 points during the group stage.
Emerging from Pool B were the Avengers who carried similar momentum into the grand final, winning 100% of their games and scoring 48 total during the group stage.
These two heavyweights battled it out on the showcourt for a hard-fought 10-minute match, with Wildcat Warriors proving too strong, securing a 10-4 grand final victory.

For such young athletes, this division brought some incredibly high-level basketball to Frankston’s 3X3 event.
The Chefs and the Astro Boys were the cream of the crop. Both advancing past the pool stage and into the grand final.
Their pool matchup saw The Chefs take away a 12-4 win. However, the script flipped and a much closer, back-and-forth battle ensued.
The Astro Boys rocketed to victory, with an 11-9 triumph.

The girls brought their A-game to the Frankston 3×3 Hustle.
The Slay Queens and the Dolphins flexed their muscles during the pool stage, winning a combined six out of seven games.
Dolphins landed the first blow in their initial matchup in the pool stage, winning 5-4.
However, Slay Queens took the throne in the grand final with a 2-1 win.

The 12 Boys Domestic Division saw many momentum swings and winning streaks.
The Avengers finished third in Pool A but really turned the screws in the quarter and semi-finals to lock in their grand final spot.
No matter who was put in front The Sharks, they shredded their opposition, cruising their way to the grand final
The Avengers put them to the test but fell just short, The Sharks emerging 11-9 victors.

HOTSHOTS had the highest average winning margin (11.3) in this division! But their only loss (1-point) was enough to let them fall out of grand final qualification.
Fast Breakers were the team to squeak past HOTSHOTS by that one-point margin.
In Pool B, The Jags went 5-0 to qualify comfortably for the grand final.
The end result was nothing short of thrilling, with the Fast Breakers fighting their way to a 9-8 win over The Jags.

The 12 & Under domestic and rep teams came together to form two pools of competition.
Thank you to the domestic teams who pulled together and fought hard to force some competitive games against some strong rep teams!
UWUS in Pool B started 4-0 in their section and held off some skilled opponents in Avengers and Ballers.
They met with Blue Stars from Pool A who conceded just nine points for the entire tournament, the least amount on the day.
Blue Stars played incredible basketball and won 12-4 in the grand final.

Belvy Blitz were too strong for Pool B with five wins by an average margin of 8.8 and no losses.
While Chill Guys in Pool A lost one game in their group against Techie Ballers but still managed to stay on top.
Belvy Blitz tried to keep their undefeated run going but it was Chill Guys who proved too good in an 11-6 victory.

Three teams finished with a 3-2 record from five games in the 14 Boys Rep Division.
CCB snuck through on total points and faced Frankston Mambas in the grand final.
The Frankston Mambas need to buy a lottery ticket…
They snuck past CCB in the pool stage 17-16, and then managed to do so by the exact same scoreline in the grand final. Crazy.

The 14/16’s girls competition were the most competitive division on the day, with four teams securing at least three wins.
The Blue Blasters proved the strongest of the lot, winning 7 out of 7 games.
The Ninja Turtles weren’t too far behind, but couldn’t quite pull off the upset in the grand final.

Geeked vs. Locked In.. That’s one team name by the way.
Geeked vs. Locked In played against the Bobcats in the grand final.
Despite Geeked beating them in the pool stage, Bobcats grabbed a W in the 16’s rep division.
