CHRIS MORREY RE-SIGNS AS REFEREE ADVISOR

The Frankston & District Basketball Association (FDBA) is excited to announce the extension of Chris Morrey’s contract as Referee Advisor for another two years. Having been appointed as FDBA’s Referee Advisor in 2019, Chris plays a key role in overseeing 220+ referees, including running beginner referee schools and providing ongoing coaching to FDBA’s officiating team.

Chris has always been proud to represent the association during state, national, and international championships. Since taking on the challenge of rebuilding and reshaping the referee program over the past five years, he acknowledges the hard work of the dedicated and passionate team that has supported him and the referees. He shared, “An association of our size can’t be run by a single person. It takes a dedicated team to help us continue to grow, and I am very thankful to everyone who has been part of the journey so far.”

In addition, Chris provides invaluable coaching and mentorship to referees, supporting their development at all levels. He works closely with FDBA’s Referees Administrator, Steven Lincoln, to ensure FDBA officiating functions run smoothly. His leadership also extends to maintaining our junior referee panel for the VJBL program and representing FDBA at workshops and courses held by Basketball Victoria and the Technical Officials Commission.

Looking ahead, Chris stated, “Over the coming years, I look forward to continuing our growth during what will be a challenging time with the stadium redevelopment. I am excited to see our current referee group develop and achieve success at various levels while welcoming the new generation of referees who will represent Frankston at different competitions.”

FDBA General Manager – Operations, Mitchell Condick, shared, “We’re thrilled to have Chris continuing in this role. His leadership is vital to the future of referee development at FDBA.”

We are grateful for Chris’s dedication and professionalism and look forward to his continued impact on our association.
