After six seasons in blue, Frankston Blues will farewell Igor “Iggy” Hadziomerovic as he moves on to a new club in 2026.
Since arriving in 2019, Iggy has been far more than a consistent presence on the court, he’s been one of the foundations of what the Frankston Blues have built over the past six years. A leader, a competitor, and a teammate who helped shape standards every day.
Frankston Blues coach Andrew Harms described Iggy as “one of the key heartbeats” of the club’s culture.
“A culture based on competitiveness, work ethic and putting people first. On the court he brought calm, toughness and reliability, and off the court he made everyone around him better just by the way he carried himself. He connected staff, players and families, and he did it quietly, consistently and with real integrity.”
That impact is hard to measure in stats – but everyone inside the program knows how rare it is to have someone who lifts the environment simply by showing up the right way, day after day.
Across his time at Frankston, Iggy’s growth as a leader has been a major highlight. Harms said what stood out most was how Iggy evolved into more than just a talented player – leaving as someone who also understood the influence he could have on others.
“His maturity, professionalism and self-belief have developed year after year, and he’s learnt how to balance competitiveness with care for his teammates. Watching that evolution has been one of the most rewarding parts of coaching him.”
Iggy also captained the Blues for three seasons (2019–2022), a reflection of the trust and respect he earned within the group. His impact was recognised with club honours too, named Frankston Blues co-MVP in 2019 alongside Damon Bozeman.
Memorable moments in blue
Reflecting on his time at Frankston, Iggy singled out the 2022 campaign as a defining highlight – a season that saw the Blues make a stirring run all the way to the National Finals decider. Hadziomerovic posted 12 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Blues as Frankston fell agonisingly short, finishing runners-up after an 85–74 loss to the Rockingham Flames.
A message to the fans, coaches, and teammates
Iggy emphasised the “amazing fan base,” the coaching staff and playing group, saying the club has given him something special over the past six seasons.
“It’s probably the most fun six years I’ve had playing basketball.”
He also thanked Harms, ‘Jacko’ (Adam Jackson), Wayne Holdsworth and Paul Groat for the work they’ve done across the program, and said he’s grateful for how the club has helped him grow both as a person and a player.
Iggy credited the club and coaching staff for creating an environment where he and his teammates were “always running up for a championship.” He said the coaches “really set the tone for the younger guys” to keep building on what’s been established, adding that he’s “looking forward to following that over the next few years.”
Thank you:
Iggy, thank you for everything you’ve given to Frankston. We wish you nothing but success in your next chapter.
And as Harmsy put it best…
“We wish him nothing but the best of luck in this next chapter, just don’t expect any easy minutes when you line up against us… We will make you earn it! haha!”
