SOPHIE ALEXANDER SET FOR COLLEGE JOURNEY

SOPHIE ALEXANDER SET FOR COLLEGE JOURNEY

Frankston Blues are proud to recognise Sophie Alexander as she prepares to take the next step in her basketball journey, committing to Bowling Green State University (BGSU).

Sophie’s pathway is one that truly reflects what the Frankston Blues program is all about. Having first come through Future Blues, Sophie has gone on to represent the club across VJBL, Youth League and NBL1 level.

“I want to thank all my teammates and coaches over my nine years at the Blues. I’m eternally grateful for all the opportunities and all the memories with my Blues baddies,” Sophie said.

Known for her elite speed in transition and strong defensive presence in the full court, Sophie has built an impressive basketball resume, including representing Victoria at Under-18 level and touring with AUSA in 2025.

Sophie’s journey is a wonderful example of a player growing through the Frankston pathway and giving back along the way. Sophie has spent time coaching across junior programs like Aussie Hoops, Mini Hoops, Inclusion Programs and Sporting Schools. She has also contributed to the game as a referee and an assistant coach to the U16.1 girls team, further showing her commitment to the sport and the wider basketball community.

She has helped guide and inspire the next generation of junior Frankston basketballers, which was recognised in June by the NBL1 when she was featured in their ‘Local Legend‘ campaign.

The Blues will recognise Sophie at our final NBL1 home game of the season on Saturday, July 18 against Mount Gambier, as she prepares to head to the United States and begin her college basketball journey with the BGSU.

Congratulations Sophie – we are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved and cannot wait to follow your next chapter.
