A referees course with a difference was run on Sunday with all participants coming from the Frankston Blues Junior representative program.

The initiative was set up by the Blues and has provided 15 current players the opportunity to get involved with officiating to help them get a better understanding of the game as well as to add more officials to the Frankston Basketball referees program.

Participants dedicated their Sunday to come in to complete their theory component over an intense 6- hour session covering on court positioning, signals, rules, expectations on calling of the game and behaviour and communication.

All trainees will now hit the court this week to put into practice what they have learned in the classroom and apply this on court to continue their development.

This has been a great initiative that will not only assist the current referee program but will also benefit the participants of the course to give them a better understanding of the game as well as starting to form a closer link between the Frankston Blues program and the Frankston Referees Program.
