BLUES NBL1 PLAYER TRIST HAS POINT TO PROVE IN NBL20

Frankston Blues NBL1 star Dan Trist is keen to redeem himself in NBL20 with South East Melbourne Phoenix, after an indifferent NBL campaign last season.

Trist fell out of the Melbourne United rotation last season, before going to play in Spain and then joining the Blues. The 27-year-old averaged 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for Frankston in NBL1, and with a meeting with his former club United on the horizon in the NBL season opener on October 3, Trist can’t wait to prove he belongs at NBL level.

“I knew last year I was an NBL player but obviously we had a really good team and the coaches had the rotations they wanted and I didn’t figure into that,” Trist told semphoenix.com.au.

“It happens to everyone at some point in their career. I was lucky enough to play four seasons in Europe before that without ever encountering that and I encountered some adversity with that last year. It gave me something to work through and some fire that I took to Spain and into Frankston.

“I’m carrying that with me now and I think it’s something that will drive me forward and we are playing them first game of the season and I want to be ready and show them they made a mistake.”
