South East Melbourne Phoenix’s free online training program with point guard Kyle Adnam, Train With Us, is all set to launch tomorrow.
Drills focusing on improving basketball skills, fitness and warm-up exercises, and cameos from the NBL’s favourite mascot, Birdman, will be sent out daily to those who sign up.
Phoenix CEO Tommy Greer recently spoke on 1116 SEN and was excited about the commencement of the program, while also noting the importance of reaching out to the community in these difficult times.
“We’re a community-focused club out in the South East,” Greer said.
“With the coronavirus going on it’s put a pretty quick halt to us being able to get out into the community and connect with the kids, so we decided to take it online with the Train With Us program.
“Kyle Adnam and the marketing team have put together a whole bunch of programs, which we’ll get up online and start sending out to the community. It’s a really good way for parents to keep the kids engaged mentally and physically over this extended break.”
And for those who think they might not have the facilities to participate, think again!
“Kids can just play in their backyard or in the driveway on their ring at home, or even just inside doing some ball handling and movement drills. We tried to design it as best we can to prepare for what’s ahead,” he said.
