FDBA DOMESTIC COMPETITIONS UPDATE (07/04/2020)

Dear members,

Thank you for your patience and support of FBDA during this difficult time.

The uncertain nature of the current Basketball hiatus is an unprecedented situation and we hope to see you all back on court soon.

Indefinite restrictions remain in place on community sport in an attempt to ‘flatten the curve’ of infection and ease the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The format of the Winter 2020 (W20) season will be dependent on its commencement date.

Below are proposed season structures based on the time frame of resumption.

This is subject to change as we continue to monitor the situation and more information becomes available.

Junior Domestic

The following adjustments will be made to the W20 season depending on the commencement date:

  • Commence before 17 May: 4 weeks of grading, no change to team registration fees
  • 17 May – 15 June: 2 weeks of grading, 25% reduction of team registration fees
  • 16 June – 20 July: 2 weeks of concurrent grading (games contribute to ladder), 50% reduction of team registration fees
  • 21 July – 2 Aug: No grading, 75% reduction of team registration fees
  • 3 Aug – 19 Sep: Extended Summer 20/21 season

Limits in division sizes will apply from 16 June to ensure 1 full cycle of the fixture during the regular season rounds.

All Junior competitions participate in a 2 weeks finals series.

Junior fees are collected by clubs, members are required to contact their club directly with any enquiries regarding fees.

Senior Domestic

Senior team registrations have been suspended until a resumption date is confirmed.

Teams that have not yet registered will provided an opportunity to do so before the season commences.

The following adjustments will be made to the W20 season depending on the commencement date:

  • Commence before 3 May: 4 weeks of grading, 3 weeks of finals, no change to team registration fees
  • 3 May – 4 June: 4 weeks of grading, 3 weeks of finals, 25% reduction of team registration fees
  • 5 June –  19 July: 2 weeks of grading, 2 weeks of finals, 50% reduction of team registration fees
  • 20 July – 2 Aug: No grading, 2 weeks of finals, 75% reduction of team registration fees
  • 3 Aug – 17 Sep: Extended Summer 20/21 season, teams offered option to carry over registration to extended Summer 20/21 season or apply for a full refund

Limits in division sizes will apply from 5 June to ensure 1 full cycle of the fixture during the regular season rounds.

Senior division grading matches contribute to season ladders.

Teams that have already registered will have any adjustment to their registration fees credited towards their match fees.

PlayHQ Participant License Fees

This payment is made directly to Basketball Victoria and FDBA cannot provide individual member refunds.
