Friday afternoon saw Round 1 of the Peninsula Homecourt Tournament take place with an outstanding 207 participants from across the 4 competing associations (Frankston Blues 86, Mornington Breaker 75, Southern Peninsula Sharks 34, Western Port Steelers 12).

The volume of participation was so great that it overwhelmed the Homecourt servers throughout the day.

FDBA Basketball Development Manager spoke about the first round.

“What a start! The response from all 4 clubs was extremely impressive, it shows how competitive these young athletes are”

“To have over 200 players put their club colours on and get out and compete against one another given the circumstances is pretty special”

In the Fundamental Finisher Challenge between Frankston Blues and Mornington Breakers there was a 67-67 tie.

The scoring was lead by Ryland Mclaren for Frankston Blues with 42, followed by Jon McCluskey from Mornington Breakers with 37.

In the Laser Focused Challenge between Southern Peninsula Sharks, the Sharks came away with a 60-50 win over the Steelers.

The scoring was lead by Ben Fewster from Western Port Steelers with 41.

For the Sharks ‘Storm & Sum O’H’ led all scorers with 17.

Round 2 starts at 12:00pm on Friday the 17th of April as Frankston Blues take on Southern Peninsula Sharks and Mornington Breakers take on Western Port Steelers.
