FRANKSTON BLUES UPDATE: ANZAC DAY 2020

Dear Frankston Blues Family,

This year ANZAC Day will look different to past years.

Traditionally for we have sent our senior players to the Dawn Service and Laying of the Wreathes hosted by our Senior Men’s naming rights partner Frankston RSL. The ANZAC Day period would also include a well spirited double header against the Dandenong Rangers.

Due to the Covid-19 social distancing regulations, the neither Frankston RSL’s regular services or the Frankston Blues games will unfortunately not be held. This, however, will not stop our community from being able to commemorate and pay their respects to this day.

In 2020, on April 25, while you can’t go to the Shrine of Remembrance or a local Dawn Service, the RSL is asking that instead you to #LIGHTUPTHEDAWN  and #STANDTO.

As the Last Post is played during the ANZAC Day Dawn Service walk outside, stand in your yard, driveway, or on your balcony and observe a minute of silence in respect of our veterans. Make sure that you snap a quick picture and share it Via Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #STANDTO.

A live broadcast of the Shrine of Remembrance Service can be viewed from 6:00am on ABC TV or Listen on ABC Radio.

From 10:30am Frankston RSL will be broadcasting the service that was held in Beauty Park in 2019, this footage will be lead with a special message from our local MP, Peta Murphy and State MP, Paul Edbrooke. This can be viewed via Frankston RSL’s Facebook page

Unlike in previous years, you will not see volunteers in the shopping centres and in front of major shopping areas selling ANZAC badges. We instead ask that you make your donation to the ANZAC Appeal online, to enable the continued work to support our Veterans. Donations can be made by heading to www.anzacappeal.com.au

Our support for the Frankston RSL remains strong and we wish all the returning men and women, and their families good health.
