The FDBA and Frankston Blues would like to announce that Byron Carpenter will not be continuing as the Youth League Women’s Head Coach in 2021 due to increased work commitments.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Byron Carpenter for his time with the club as the Youth League Women’s Head Coach.

Byron took on the role of Head Coach in the 2017 pre-season ahead of the clubs venture back into the Big V competition following a 5-year hiatus.

Having coached for many years in the Junior Blues program, Byron was no stranger to many of the players and hit the ground running in 2018.

After finishing the regular season with an 11 win and 7 loss season, the side managed to fight its way to a Grand Final berth where they, unfortunately, fell to Casey. Despite the disappointment of the loss Byron was awarded the Big V Youth League Two Women’s Coach of the Year Award in recognition of the team’s outstanding efforts in their first season back in the Big V competition.

Determined to go one better and to build on the progress made in year one, Byron and the Blues Women were able to enact their revenge on the competition making it through the regular season suffering only a single loss (19 wins, 1 loss) and eventually taking out the Youth League Two Women’s Championship against Sherbrooke.

Byron’s impact on this group and on our Senior Blues program has been significant, he leaves this group poised and ready for the challenge of Youth League One and beyond.

The silver lining to this announcement is that we are not losing Byron from the program entirely; he will continue to support the club in his new role as the VJBL Coach Mentor. We are so fortunate that Byron will be able to put his ample junior and senior coaching expertise to good use as he provides guidance and support for our Junior Blues coaches and athletes.

We wish Byron all the best as he takes some time now to focus on his family and his career and we look forward to seeing him around Frankston Stadium working with our Junior Blues Coaches.

Please stay tuned over the coming weeks for an announcement of the Youth League Women’s Head Coach.
