It’s been sometime since my last communication, so I thought it was an appropriate time to update everyone on some important developments relating to our Association.
FDBA Annual General Meeting (AGM):
The FDBA AGM was held earlier this month where the Presidents report was tabled and presented to the membership. A copy of the report is below which highlights some of the achievements of the association during the 2024 year.

As per FDBA constitution, three (3) Board positions were deemed vacant. Three (3) nominations were received from incumbent Board members which meant Grant Dennis, Vera Roberts and Chris Beattie were all re-elected unopposed. The contribution of Grant, Vera and Chris has been significant, and I congratulate them on their reappointment.
After the AGM, the Board meet and unanimously voted on the Executive allocating the following positions, myself as President, Grant Dennis Vice President, Jo Toombs Secretary and Ian Watt Treasurer. I am delighted with the outcome of both the Board and Executive positions, it demonstrates stability and consistency, allowing us to continue executing as per our strategic plan.
FDBA Life Memberships:
At the FDBA AGM, the Membership unanimously voted the following people be inducted into the FDBA Life Membership category. Peter Harms, Jo Toombs and myself. I’d like to congratulate both Peter and Jo for their induction, both have contributed an enormous amount to several aspects of the Association. Personally, this was such an amazing honour and privilege and is something that I am extremely proud of achieving.
Multi-level Car Park:
The multi-level car park is now officially open and available for use. Parking is free and has been built for public transport commuters and basketball stadium users. This is a welcome relief and will no doubt make parking at the stadium a lot easier and ease congestion in and around the stadium.
Stadium Redevelopment:
Its happening!!!! Work is imminent with construction commencing in July on the state-of-the-art 10 court facility. The plans and design of the stadium look absolutely amazing and will take approximately 24 months to build. This means, there will be no more games at the current stadium until construction is complete, but you don’t need to be concerned, the FDBA staff have done an amazing job securing additional local venues to support competition during this time and we don’t anticipate any interruptions to any of our competitions. Below is a link to Frankston City Council website which provides more details relating to the redevelopment.
In closing, we are entering an extremely exciting period for our Association, with record participation, financial stability, and a brand new $60M stadium all ensuring a bright future.
Bring on the new stadium!!!!
