πŸ€ Senior Competitions – Finals Information & Eligibility

As we approach finals, all teams are reminded of the rules and requirements regarding player eligibility and game regulations. Please read carefully to avoid any issues during the finals series.


βœ… Finals Qualification

  • Qualification Updates: Team organisers have received finals qualification updates via email over the past 8 weeks.

  • Eligibility: Only qualified and registered players may take the court in finals.

  • Unlisted Players: If you believe a qualified player has been omitted from the update emails, contact the FDBA office immediately:


⚠️ Playing Ineligible Players

  • Any ineligible player who takes the court at any time will result in an automatic forfeit.


πŸ“‹ Qualification Rules

Players must have competed in at least 50% of regular season games (including grading games).

  • Byes do not count towards qualification.

Fill-in Players:

  • Fill-in players are only credited once they have officially registered to their team.
  • If you do not have your team’s registration link, please contact the FDBA office.
  • Fill-in games are not automatically assigned to a player after registering – these must be manually consolidated.
  • Office staff must be notified if a player requires their fill-in games to be transferred.
  • Fill-in reports have been included in the finals qualification update emails sent to team organisers.
  • It is each team’s responsibility to ensure player eligibility before finals commence.

  • Monday Men – 10 games
  • Tuesday Men – 11 games
  • Wednesday Women – 11 games
  • Wednesday Mixed – 11 games
  • Thursday Men – 10 games
  • Sunday Mixed – 10 games
  • Sunday Masters – 10 games
  • Sunday Men – 10 games

πŸ“ Finals Exemptions

Players who have not met the minimum game requirement may apply for an exemption on the following grounds:

Medical Restrictions

  • Must provide a medical certificate from a qualified practitioner, specifying affected dates.
  • Exemptions cover no more than 50% of required games.
  • Certificates must be submitted at least 48 hours before finals commence.
  • Game-day submissions may not be accepted.

Extenuating Circumstances

  • Family or work commitments considered on a case-by-case basis by the Match Committee.


⏱️ Finals Game Rules

Applies to: Senior Men, Masters, Women & Mixed – PDF Here

Game Length: 2 x 18-minute halves

Half Time: 2 minutes

Timeouts:

  • 1 in first half (not allowed in last minute).
  • 2 in second half (only 1 allowed in final 2 minutes).

Clock Stops:

  • On all timeouts.
  • On all whistles in final 2 minutes of 2nd half.

Fouls: Team penalty (2 Free Throws to the player who drew the foul) when a team reaches 9 fouls in a half

Keyway Violation: 3 seconds (Men, Masters, Women); Mixed – as per regular season rules.

Match Ball: Men – Size 7, Women & Mixed – Size 6.

Extra Time: 5 minutes initially, then 3 minutes until a result is achieved (clock as per 2nd half).
