Dear members,
Please make note of the following reminder regarding junior players registration and fill-in rules:
Late Registrations:
- Clubs seeking to register a junior player after the fourth round of the season must notify the FDBA office.
- Un-notified registrations after round 4 will be followed up by the FDBA Match Committee to confirm and permit the additional player.
Fill-Ins Rules:
- Fill-in players may be used to bring the team up to a maximum of six players.
- Fill-ins cannot be used from the same division (e.g. an U12 Boys C1 player cannot fill-in for another U12 Boys C1 team).
- Fill-ins can only play in a higher graded team than their regular team in the same age group (e.g. an U10 Girls B Grade player may fill in for an U10 A grade team but not C or D grade teams)
- Rep (VJBL) players may only fill-in for another absent rep player in A or B grade competitions only (This includes using rep fill-ins from younger age groups).
Rep player classification: ONLY players selected to a 2024/25 representative team will be considered a rep player as per the By-Laws.
Players who are new to rep and have been selected to 2025/26 representative team will NOT be considered a rep player in regards to the fill-in policy.
Players who have NOT been selected to a 2025/26 representative team, but played the 2024/25 representative season WILL still be considered a rep player. Explainer below**
It is important to understand these rules, if a team uses an ineligible player that match will be recorded as 20-0 forfeit in favour of the opposing team.
If in doubt speak to the venue supervisor or FDBA office. Please be sure to read the policy in its entirety, linked below.
**Points are allocated based on the division that players participate in the most recent VJBL competition in which grading has been completed: Summer domestic season – Players are allocated points based on the VJBL division they participated in 2024/25 VJBL season which concluded in September of 2025.
