Frankston Blues (FDBA) are proud to announce the return of former Australian Opal, Olympic Silver Medallist and 2021 WNBL Championship Assistant Coach; Belinda Snell to the role of Head Coach of the ‘Powerade’ Frankston Blues Senior Women (NBL1 South) for the 2021 season.
Following the cancellation of the NBL1 South 2020 Season, Belinda has further committed to the club for 2021.
Snell will continue to be assisted by Victorian Youth Championship Women Championship coach Jo Wood.
FDBA CEO Wayne Holdsworth recognised Snell’s caliber and reappointment to the Club and the Senior Women’s program.
“Firstly, on behalf of the club, I would like to congratulate Belinda (and the Flyers) for a terrific championship season in the Queensland WNBL bubble. Winning a championship in any national league comes with its challenges, but I think it’s fair to say, not quite like the season past”
“2020 presented such a challenging year for many, including those involved in professional sport. But it’s a credit to Belinda, to come out the other side, and further enhance her already significant reputation.”
“We are so proud to have a person of the caliber of Belinda aligned with our club. No doubt she will continue to develop and lead our female athletes, and help them progress into finals contention”
Snells’ return comes after the announcement of the new Youth League Women’s Head Coach Kerryn Mitchell, who will both work together closely.
Snell spoke about her appointment at the club.
“I am excited to be back with the Blues for the 2021 season and thank the club for the opportunity once again.”
“After a very challenging 2020, I look forward to working with Jo Wood and Kerryn Mitchell and the talented athlete’s at Frankston as we work towards a strong NBL1 season.”
