JAY ELLIS RETURNING TO FRANKSTON BLUES IN 2020

Frankston and District Basketball Association and Frankston Blues are pleased to announce the re-signing of Jay Ellis as the club’s Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.

Jay has an extensive background in sport and an impressive resume to date in his career having completed his postgraduate studies at North Carolina State as a part of their Strength and Conditioning team working in their High Performance Facility with their Football and Basketball athletes.

Jay is also now working as a part of Melbourne United’s Strength and Conditioning team under High Performance Manager, Nick Popovic as well as balancing his roles with Camberwell Grammar as a part of their Sports Performance Program and Woodford Sport Science Consulting.

Jay works closely with Jason Davies who has also been heavily involved with Woodford Sports Science Consulting having previously managed their Casey Facility in the past.

Between these two they know exactly what an elite High Performance program looks like and will look to carry that in to 2020 with both of Senior and Junior Blues teams.

In 2020 the Frankston Blues will be taking their Strength and Conditioning (S&C) Program to new heights, offering regular sessions for our Junior Blues on Monday and Wednesday, introductory programs for our newest Junior Blues (U12.6’s and U12.7’s), S&C Camps in each of the term breaks and new software that will assist our coaches with personalised program design for our players.

Jay will be taking on a more prominent role with our club which will see him be more accessible to our players, coaches and parents via email (strength@frankstonbasketball.asn.au) and in person at the sessions mentioned above.

Jay will continue in his role with our Senior groups as well as he and Jason will oversee the periodisation of our teams pre-season and in-season workload, this will include planned peaks and de-loads (active rest) as well as personalised training programs to ensure our teams are performing at their best when it matters most.

The plan for our increase in Strength & Conditioning is to ensure we are providing a holistic approach to our athletic development, our Junior Blues Coaches led by our Coaching Coordinators Kerryn Mitchell and Scott Christiansen do an outstanding job on court, we want to supplement that with ensuring our players are learning high performance habits in order to stay on court for longer and to perform at their best.
